Indoor Options in Berlin

December 23, 2017December 23, 2017 ThingsHelenLovesLeave a comment

Tis the season to be jolly, but that also means tis the season to be cold. And in Germany, that can mean very cold. And wet. Possibly snowy. But the seasonal conditions should not put you off visiting the German capital. This is a wonderful time to visit Berlin. If you’ve been reading this blog… Continue reading Indoor Options in Berlin

German Christmas Market Tips

December 14, 2017 ThingsHelenLoves6 Comments

Christmas markets. Magical places where everything is warm and fuzzy, no matter how cold it actually is. I LOVE Christmas markets, and living in Germany means the Weihnachtsmarkt is a fixture of the festive season. If you are planning to visit a German Christmas market in the next few weeks , I hope a few tips… Continue reading German Christmas Market Tips

Discovering Aachener Printern

December 7, 2017 ThingsHelenLoves5 Comments

Aachen seems to be one of those city break destinations that is not so well known outside of Germany. And that is a shame because it has as much to offer as the more celebrated destinations such as, say, Düsseldorf or Cologne. I’ve had my eye on Aachen for a while, hoping to slot in… Continue reading Discovering Aachener Printern

Hello, Christmas!

December 5, 2017 ThingsHelenLovesLeave a comment

I am not known for being a great lover of Christmas. It’s not that I don’t love Christmas, I do. At Christmas time. But I find it really hard when the whole festive package is being peddled from Halloween, if not earlier. Thus far, I haven’t embraced the season very much either at home (apart… Continue reading Hello, Christmas!

Exploring the Three Country Border.

December 1, 2017 ThingsHelenLoves3 Comments

There is something about borders and the crossing of them that I find fascinating. One of the great things about being based in Germany is that much of Europe is there for the taking . Pick a direction, hit the road and soon enough, you’ll cross a border into a whole new country. With the… Continue reading Exploring the Three Country Border.

Been out and about exploring Berwick-Upon-Tweed with this little chap. Even the smallest adventures become great things with the right company ❤️ The company and the location made a winning combination, Berwick has a lovely vibe and lots of boutiques & cafes not to mention some gorgeous views if you walk the old walls. #berwickupontweed #bordertowns #visitengland #familytravel #son #chattycaptioncommunity #discoverunder1k #instatravel #instablogger #exploretheuk #coastaltown
Happy Valentines Day, everyone! I hope you heart is full of love today ❤️ We don't do Valentines in the traditional sense, but today is a good day to spread some love so rather than flowers and chocolates and so on, we've gone with a donation to the British Heart Foundation. They do sterling work in the form of research and education that will hopefully help avoid so many broken hearts in the future. It seems a fitting alternative for a Valentines gesture. Hope you have a happy, healthy day 😊#happyvalentinesday #britishheartfoundation #healthyhearts #goodtogive #loveisintheair #goodcause #givealittlelove #charity
Given that a kelpie is a shape shifting water spirit, I think it quite appropriate that I captured their reflections...or maybe they aren't reflections and there is more myth and magic around than we know. Great day out exploring around Falkirk, I've wanted to come here for a while and I was not at all disappointed #thekelpies #visitfalkirk #explorescotland #exploreeverything #scotspirit #mythicalcreatures #travelgram #instablogger #travelinspo
Checked something off the Scotland Bucket List today with a trip to see the Kelpies. Love the way old tales and modern engineering are bound together creatively to produce such a striking pair of sculptures. #thekelpies #visitfalkirk #helixpark #Scotland #mythicalcreatures #exploreeverything #armyfamily #daysoutwithkids #travelgram #instablogger #discoverunder1k #weroamscotland #culturetrip #travelinspiration
Pretty flowers in the glasshouse at Edinburgh Royal Botanic Gardens. I would fill my home with orchids if I thought they had any chance of survival , but between my lack of green fingers and the pup I wouldn't fancy the chances. In other news, from one living thing to another, we are off to Edinburgh Zoo today. Hope everyone has a lovely day, whatever you are up to 😊#lifeinedinburgh #exploreedinburgh #edinburghroyalbotanicgardens #orchids #flowersofinstagram #instaorchid #flowers #familytime #darlingweekend #armyfamily #chattycaptioncommunity #discoverunder1k #sundayfunday
Love a good #tbt pic. Back to Beelitz for this one, a stones throw from Berlin. Once a sanatorium but abandoned in the 1990s, this place is the keeper of an intriguing history including a patient called Hitler and Red Army occupation. If walls could talk... #beelitzheilstätten #tbt #history #visitgermany #abandonedplaces #lostplacesgermany #travelgram #instatravel #travelblogger #exploreeverything #culturetrip
