Berlin Blogs 1: Potsdamer Platz

April 23, 2017 ThingsHelenLovesLeave a comment

On our recent visit to Berlin, I came across this picture of a young woman fleeing to the west as the Berlin wall went up. The image captured me. I wanted to meet her, to know what happened next. The aspiring writer in me wants to craft her story. The image is part of the… Continue reading Berlin Blogs 1: Potsdamer Platz

So you could easily miss the four-inch square, brass plates set in the ground. Often passed by, sometimes obscured by city grime, these… Continue reading Stolpersteine.

Eindhoven-More than Philips!

January 2, 2017 ThingsHelenLovesLeave a comment

Recently, we spent a day exploring Eindhoven. I have to say, Eindhoven had never really pinged my radar. But whilst staying at a holiday park nearby, we thought we might as well venture out and see what we could see. And I’m so glad we did. Fact about me. I like visiting religious buildings. Whatever… Continue reading Eindhoven-More than Philips!

Back to that time we found a bit of Holland in Germany. The Dutch Quarter or Holländisches Viertel in Potsdam was built in the 1700s on the instructions of King Frederick Wilhelm I. Love the fact a gang of cyclists was coming as I took this snap, adds a little bit extra Dutch spirit! Potsdam is home to some stunning parks and buildings, but these red brick beauties are worth making time for 😊
Glorious day here in Wiltshire, real sense of Spring & optimism in the air 😊 #wiltshirewalks #spring #blueskies #countryviews #englishcountryside #outdoors #dailywalk #walkswithmydog
Spring is ushering winter out. Country lanes are getting greener, skies are blue more than grey, there’s even washing on the line. Light at the end of the long, dark tunnel that was Winter 20/21 😊 Happy Thursday , I hope you’ve all had a good week. And even if not, take heart ❤️ it’s nearly done! #changeintheair #spring #goodbyewinter #blueskies #cloudpatterns #livebig #nolimits #countryviews #englishcountryside #perhamdown #wiltshirewalks #wiltshire #fieldsofgold #walkingmum #dailywalk #lookingforward #gratitude

Did you know there’s a park in Berlin that used to be a train yard? It’s my favourite Berlin park (so far,loads left to see!) Can’t wait to get back to Germany, it’s been far too long. #throwbackthursday #placesihavebeen #berlin #parksofberlin #naturparkschönebergersüdgelände #parksofeurope #steamtrain #history #greenspace #naturelover #lifeoutdoors #germany #visitgermany #placesihavebeen
Evening walk with the wolf, beautiful way to round off the day. Pretty skies on the way out, company of the moon over the trees on the way back in. Isn’t nature lovely? #eveningwalk #dailywalk #walkswithmydog #bigsky #coloursinthesky #moon #mooncycle #fieldandforest #rurallife #englishcountryside #wiltshirecountryside #wiltshirewalks #armywife
Did you know snowdrops represent hope in the language of flowers? I think that idea is more meaningful than ever this year. Loved spotting these little beauties in a church yard near me. Spring is coming 😊 #snowdrops #hope #flowersofinstagram #wildflowers #languageofflowers #churchyard #localheritage #mortuarychapel #greenshoots #spring #naturelover #cemetery #graveyard_fanatics #oldstones #happyoutdoors #dailywalk

Sub zero outside, but I’m calling Spring. Fresh flowers and I’ve pulled out some Spring-almost-Easter decor. This time of year tests me, this year more than ever. Put in a few miles with my little mate this morning, this is such a lovely part of the world. Making the most of it , hard to believe we are half way through this posting already. So grateful for some glorious weather after days of rainy gloom. Blue skies after dark days seems to pretty much sum up life right now...hopefully 🤞 stay safe & positive everyone, happy weekend 😊 #walkswithmydog #walkingthedog #walkinguk #walkingmum #wiltshirewalks #countryviews #englishcountryside #rurallife #blackdogsofinstagram #blueskiesandsunshine #clouds #prettyclouds #feelingpositive #gratitude #weekendmood #discoverunder1k
