Hello, Christmas!

December 5, 2017 ThingsHelenLovesLeave a comment

I am not known for being a great lover of Christmas. It’s not that I don’t love Christmas, I do. At Christmas time. But I find it really hard when the whole festive package is being peddled from Halloween, if not earlier. Thus far, I haven’t embraced the season very much either at home (apart… Continue reading Hello, Christmas!

Lessons From a Mobile Life

September 21, 2017 ThingsHelenLovesLeave a comment

First things first, a confession. The title of this post is only half the story. To be an accurate reflection of content, the title would need to read something like ‘ Things Living Abroad and Being a Trailing Spouse and Moving Every Two Years Has Taught Me’. But that isn’t very punchy. Title aside, things… Continue reading Lessons From a Mobile Life

A Barefoot Walk.

September 7, 2017 ThingsHelenLoves2 Comments

Recently, I have done a lot of exploring. We spent our family summer holidays travelling around  Luxembourg and Germany, exploring a ton of interesting things and places.  So far, so fun. But when I’ve been raving and blogging about places  been and the things seen, one thing just doesn’t get enough care or credit. And that,… Continue reading A Barefoot Walk.

One of the worst things about living outside your home country is that you can’t always easily find the brands and products that you are used to and enjoy. Garden Goals & Blue Sheep: The Garden Show.

June 19, 2017 ThingsHelenLovesLeave a comment

The town I live in is well-known for its Spa culture ( hence the Bad prefix to the name) and for being a centre for medicine and wellness. I dived into the history of this a little bit when I explored one of the clinics that is now closed. Details of that little adventure can… Continue reading Garden Goals & Blue Sheep: The Garden Show.

‘Currently I Am’ Tag

June 6, 2017 ThingsHelenLoves2 Comments

So, this post is a little bit different for me but nothing ventured and all that! I really enjoy the various Tag posts that do the rounds in blog world and on YouTube, so I thought I would give this one a go. Without further ado… Currently I am… Missing… My husband. He is working away and its… Continue reading ‘Currently I Am’ Tag

Product Review- Dresdner Essenz Bath Bombs.

May 30, 2017 ThingsHelenLoves2 Comments

I do love a bath. Preferably with some nice products, a good book and a drink on the side. Luckily for me, I live in Germany and my love of bath time fits right in with the German approach to wellness. This is a country where people believe in the powers of bathing in all… Continue reading Product Review- Dresdner Essenz Bath Bombs.

Berlin Blogs 3: The World of Nivea

April 27, 2017May 26, 2017 ThingsHelenLoves1 Comment

I am not, by any stretch of the imagination, a beauty blogger. In fact my whole beauty routine is pretty low-key. I love reading style and beauty blogs and have good intentions but realistically I don’t use that many products and am not a particularly loyal consumer. In fact, I can count on one hand… Continue reading Berlin Blogs 3: The World of Nivea

Bringing Spring in- The Easter Tree

April 6, 2017April 9, 2017 ThingsHelenLoves1 Comment

In Germany, Easter is a celebration that is much-anticipated. German winters can be long and harsh and Easter is a welcome sign that Spring has arrived. The new season brings with it a sense of optimism and rebirth…warmer days, lighter nights, colourful blooms and the promise of summer. One of the most charming Easter traditions… Continue reading Bringing Spring in- The Easter Tree

Back to that time we found a bit of Holland in Germany. The Dutch Quarter or Holländisches Viertel in Potsdam was built in the 1700s on the instructions of King Frederick Wilhelm I. Love the fact a gang of cyclists was coming as I took this snap, adds a little bit extra Dutch spirit! Potsdam is home to some stunning parks and buildings, but these red brick beauties are worth making time for 😊
Glorious day here in Wiltshire, real sense of Spring & optimism in the air 😊 #wiltshirewalks #spring #blueskies #countryviews #englishcountryside #outdoors #dailywalk #walkswithmydog
Spring is ushering winter out. Country lanes are getting greener, skies are blue more than grey, there’s even washing on the line. Light at the end of the long, dark tunnel that was Winter 20/21 😊 Happy Thursday , I hope you’ve all had a good week. And even if not, take heart ❤️ it’s nearly done! #changeintheair #spring #goodbyewinter #blueskies #cloudpatterns #livebig #nolimits #countryviews #englishcountryside #perhamdown #wiltshirewalks #wiltshire #fieldsofgold #walkingmum #dailywalk #lookingforward #gratitude

Did you know there’s a park in Berlin that used to be a train yard? It’s my favourite Berlin park (so far,loads left to see!) Can’t wait to get back to Germany, it’s been far too long. #throwbackthursday #placesihavebeen #berlin #parksofberlin #naturparkschönebergersüdgelände #parksofeurope #steamtrain #history #greenspace #naturelover #lifeoutdoors #germany #visitgermany #placesihavebeen
Evening walk with the wolf, beautiful way to round off the day. Pretty skies on the way out, company of the moon over the trees on the way back in. Did you know snowdrops represent hope in the language of flowers? I think that idea is more meaningful than ever this year. Loved spotting these little beauties in a church yard near me. Spring is coming 😊 #snowdrops #hope #flowersofinstagram #wildflowers #languageofflowers #churchyard #localheritage #mortuarychapel #greenshoots #spring #naturelover #cemetery #graveyard_fanatics #oldstones #happyoutdoors #dailywalk

Sub zero outside, but I’m calling Spring. Fresh flowers and I’ve pulled out some Spring-almost-Easter decor. This time of year tests me, this year more than ever. Put in a few miles with my little mate this morning, this is such a lovely part of the world. Making the most of it , hard to believe we are half way through this posting already. So grateful for some glorious weather after days of rainy gloom. Blue skies after dark days seems to pretty much sum up life right now...hopefully 🤞 stay safe & positive everyone, happy weekend 😊 #walkswithmydog #walkingthedog #walkinguk #walkingmum #wiltshirewalks #countryviews #englishcountryside #rurallife #blackdogsofinstagram #blueskiesandsunshine #clouds #prettyclouds #feelingpositive #gratitude #weekendmood #discoverunder1k
