About Me

Welcome to the world of Things Helen Loves, where I write about walking, wellness & travel adventures.

I love to explore and seek out new experiences to share, along with interesting places to stay.

I'm endlessly inspired by the countryside, woodlands and nature. I'm happiest outdoors with my Belgian Shepherd at my heels.

I've gone forest bathing in Wiltshire, slept in medieval churches, drunk coffee in a Dutch windmill and explored an abandoned hospital in Germany. I don't know where I'm going next, but I'd love you to come along.

Helen x

One name, one life, one story. This is the cemetery of the Somerset & Bath Lunatic Asylum, that went on to be known as The Mendip Hospital. My final post from the beautiful little city of Wells. If you’re looking for a UK city break that feels like a fairy tale, this is the one for you. I’m not famous or successful 😆 but if like me you have a place in your heart for a bit of history, abandoned places, life outdoors and big wolfy dogs then I’d love to connect. A chapel with a secret in the edge of a garrison town in Wiltshire. Adding ‘ A good gate’ to the list if things I love. If, like me, you love a bit of history and a property lurk 👀 a trip to Vicar’s Close in Wells is a must. It’s the most complete medieval street in the UK, full of pretty corners and little surprises… including a medieval optical illusion. Big field, big sky, sun on the rise. Few miles with @littlewolfrocky to start the day. Getting outdoors is never a bad idea. Happy Friday all, make it a good one 😊 St Dunstans-in-the-East. A London church turned tiny London park. Tucked away but not too far off the beaten track- put it on your London list.
