    About Me

Welcome to the world of Things Helen Loves, where I write about life outdoors, history and travel.

I'm passionate about exploring the world through its history and finding quirky or historic places to stay.

Expect inspiration for ways to enjoy time outdoors, UK breaks and European adventures.

I've gone forest bathing in Wiltshire, slept in medieval churches, drunk coffee in a Dutch windmill and explored an abandoned hospital in Germany. I don't know where I'm going next, but I'd love you to come along.

More than that, I hope to inspire you to go out and have your own adventures.

    Helen x

Fancy some Kent walking inspiration? 🥾 Saturday coffee date with the boy, all the autumnal, cute coffee shop vibes. Also - take the stairs and make them bookish; swipe to see ➡️ The Walled Garden is wearing Autumn beautifully 😍 Old house, red brick and autumn colour is the perfect combination. I love reading other people’s posts like this, so having had a few new follows lately, thought I’d jump in and do my own. Calais: More than just the place you arrive at on the ferry. I went exploring beyond the port, here’s what I found: Hôtel de Ville / City Hall, Calais. Postcards from Calais beach / Plage de Calais A few close up shots of my new French friend. Some people go to the club on holiday… I go looking for dragons to make friends with 🐉
Love discovering new places and exploring? Join me for travel inspiration & lovely walks from England and beyond.
