About Me

Welcome to the world of Things Helen Loves, where I write about life outdoors, history and travel.

I'm passionate about exploring the world through its history and finding quirky or historic places to stay.

Expect inspiration for ways to enjoy time outdoors, UK breaks and European adventures.

I've gone forest bathing in Wiltshire, slept in medieval churches, drunk coffee in a Dutch windmill and explored an abandoned hospital in Germany. I don't know where I'm going next, but I'd love you to come along.

More than that, I hope to inspire you to go out and have your own adventures.

Helen x

Lovely Sunday walk with the boys in the Hampshire countryside. Finished up in the beer garden at @watershipdowninn . I’ve wanted to visit this country inn for an age and it didn’t disappoint. Gorgeous interior, fabulous location and that beautiful rabbit on the old brickwork 😍 Fields are cut, hay is baled, colours are turning. September might have served up an extra week of sun but Autumn is incoming πŸ‚ Light through the leaves on the morning walk, beautiful way to start the day. Happy Sunday all 😊 Early morning walk views πŸŒ… Wishing everyone a lovely day 😊 When we moved to the South of England, One of the things on my to-do list was to see as many of London’s parks & green spaces as possible. (Actually, I started out saying I’d see them all, not realising there are literally hundreds πŸ˜…) Just a boy and his best friend. Finding peace with the four paws and a bit of outdoorsy time as we wrap up the holidays and look towards getting into the back-to-school routines. V & A views, a few of my favourites πŸ₯° Hydrangea, old stone and Summers day reflections at @vamuseum for Flower Friday. Wishing everyone a lovely weekend 😊 @thegourmetgoatlarder; a gorgeous little cafe in the Wiltshire countryside complete with resident goats. You can feed them, give then a scratch and be thoroughly entertained by their funny little ways.
