    Welcome to the world of Things Helen Loves, where I write about life outdoors, history and travel.

    I'm passionate about exploring the world through its history and finding quirky or historic places to stay.

    Expect inspiration for ways to enjoy time outdoors, UK breaks and European adventures.

    I've gone forest bathing in Wiltshire, slept in medieval churches, drunk coffee in a Dutch windmill and explored an abandoned hospital in Germany. I don't know where I'm going next, but I'd love you to come along.

    More than that, I hope to inspire you to go out and have your own adventures.

    Postcards from the English countryside. Glorious in all seasons, but really something special in spring and summer. One of the Englands most unique and fascinating villages is open to visitors for a few days this weekend. Bloom scrolling over doom scrolling. Ditch the bad news and conspiracy theories, embrace the blossoms and blooms. Happy Saturday 😊 How to make the blossom and magnolia even more beautiful? Give them a historic building for a backdrop. Very pretty morning walk in Maidstone 😊 One of the many nice things about Spring is that lots of National Trust properties reopen fully. I'm taking some time today to plan which properties I want to visit over my Kent summer. Street scenes from Belfast, including mine & Little Wolf's favourite bit of street art . Belfast is a great little city break and a pretty dog friendly place, if you've got four paws for company 🐾 Starting the day with a walk, adopting the practice of 'sky before screen' is really helping me feel brighter & more energised. When modern life is a lot 😅 the past can be a fascinating place to escape to. The @oldoperatingtheatre museum in Southwark, London is one of my favourite London finds. " London is so expensive"
